I’m so excited to share my newest creation with you—a Hong Kong Milk Tea Cup and Saucer set, hand-painted in a delicate blue watercolor style. This design is a heartfelt tribute to Hong Kong’s café culture, filled with the comforting nostalgia of local flavors and a subtle nod to an inspiring story I came across.
This time, I’ve chosen to illustrate some of the most iconic treats from a typical Hong Kong café: the warm, buttery pineapple bun, a classic milk tea cup and teapot, the flaky egg tart, and the golden, syrupy Hong Kong-style French toast. These familiar delicacies are more than just food—they’re symbols of the simple joys that bring us together, whether over breakfast with family or an afternoon break with friends.

I chose the blue watercolor painting style for a very personal reason. It’s inspired by the timeless elegance of Portugal’s Azulejo tiles, but it also carries a deeper, more subtle meaning. I once read a story about someone in prison in Hong Kong who found solace in art. With nothing but a ballpoint pen, they created beautiful drawings that spoke of hope, resilience, and the human spirit. This story stayed with me, and I wanted to honor it quietly through this design. The soft, flowing blue brushstrokes are a reminder that even in the most unexpected places, voices and stories can find a way to be heard.
This set is my way of reimagining the everyday objects that define Hong Kong’s unique dining culture and pairing them with an artistic expression that feels timeless and meaningful. It’s more than just a cup; it’s a connection to home, a piece of art, and a story of resilience all in one. Whether you’re savoring milk tea, coffee, or a quiet moment to yourself, I hope this set brings you the same warmth and inspiration it brought me while creating it.
